Baseball Recap: Thornton Academy Falls Short of Biddeford in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Thornton Academy can now relate to. They fell just short of the Biddeford Tigers by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 14-2.

Beck Edgerly was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits.

On the hitting side, Jacob Fish made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Thornton Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-5-1. As for Biddeford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Thornton Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Biddeford, they will take on Mt. Ararat at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last five games the Eagles have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
