Baseball Game Preview: Clovis North Broncos vs. Stockdale Mustangs

Clovis North is 0-3 against Stockdale since May of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Broncos will look to defend their home field against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clovis North 3.3, Stockdale 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Clovis North is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Kerman 12-3. The Broncos not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 19th (when they won 12-0).

Meanwhile, Stockdale came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Golden Eagles.

Hayden Elchlepp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Stockdale's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Gutierrez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Clovis North has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 23-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Stockdale, their victory bumped their record up to 21-8.
