Baseball Game Preview: Richland Northeast Cavaliers vs. York Cougars

For the second straight game, Richland Northeast will face off against York. Richland Northeast is taking a road trip to take on York at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Richland Northeast has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 28.

Richland Northeast managed to slip by York the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Richland Northeast lost 11-0 to York on Tuesday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Cavaliers were not able to get on the board.

For York's part, Larson Montgomery was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Montgomery also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because York is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Montgomery was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, York got a massive performance out of Lem Moss, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Moss a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Sweatt, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

York kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Richland Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for York, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
