Soccer Game Preview: Satellite vs. Melbourne

The Satellite Scorpions will challenge the Melbourne Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Satellite will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Satellite gave up the first goal last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Eau Gallie, sneaking past 2-1. Given the Scorpions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Commodores are ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Joey Versaggi was the driving force of Satellite's attack as he scored both of Satellite's goals, bringing his season total up to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Melbourne kept a clean sheet against Bayside on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Satellite pushed their record up to 7-2-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four games. As for Melbourne, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season.

Satellite beat Melbourne by a goal in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Satellite since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
