Softball Recap: Thurston Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Thurston entered their tilt with Churchill on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 6-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 18-0 victory on Saturday.

Kasey Ogan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Thurston let Syren Ferguson and Kassy Anderson run wild. Ferguson scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Anderson scored a run while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Miller, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Thurston pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Churchill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Thurston will venture away from home to take on North Eugene at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Highlanders have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Churchill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ashland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
