West Charlotte is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Harding University with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 75-57. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Amen(AC) Pressley and Kaharri Coleman. Pressley had a solid game and went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Meanwhile, Coleman did his best for the losing side, putting up 13 points.
Meanwhile, Chambers entered their matchup against North Mecklenburg on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Chambers fell just short of North Mecklenburg by a score of 76-73. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Vikings are ranked 14th).
West Charlotte will need focus on slowing down Markus Kerr, one of several Chambers players who made an impact when they last played. He went 9 of 18 on his way to 22 points. The contest was Kerr's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tarris Bouie III, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.
West Charlotte is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Chambers, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: West Charlotte has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Chambers struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
West Charlotte was dealt a bruising 92-55 loss at the hands of Chambers when the teams last played back in February of 2024.
