Softball Recap: Jackson-Reed Wins Going Away Against Washington Latin Public Charter School

Jackson-Reed never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Washington Latin Public Charter School Lions with a sharp 15-0 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by 11 runs or more this season.

Lia Pollack was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Jackson-Reed got a massive performance out of London Cullins, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Cullins is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Alex Nehrer was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing seven bases while going 2-for-2.

Jackson-Reed always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Jackson-Reed's victory bumped their record up to 4-5-1. As for Washington Latin Public Charter School, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson-Reed will head out to take on Sidwell Friends at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Washington Latin Public Charter School, they will venture away from home to square off against School Without Walls at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
