Baseball Game Preview: Moreau Catholic Mariners vs. American Canyon Wolves

The Moreau Catholic Mariners will venture away from home to square off against the American Canyon Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Moreau Catholic will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Moreau Catholic and Irvington had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mariners skirted past the Vikings 3-1. Three seems to be a good number for the Mariners as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Aiden Perry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has become a key player for Moreau Catholic: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 5-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nate Elizarrey, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

American Canyon couldn't beat Sonoma Valley on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Wolves took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons. The Wolves' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Dylan Brown made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Johnson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

American Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Moreau Catholic, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
