Basketball Game Preview: St. Charles Pirates vs. Jersey Panthers

The St. Charles Pirates will finish 2024 at home by hosting the Jersey Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. St. Charles will be strutting in after a victory while Jersey will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, St. Charles beat Warrenton 41-36. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Jersey's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waterloo.

St. Charles will need focus on slowing down Ella Smith, one of several Jersey players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 14 points and three steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Breden, who had six points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Jersey's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for St. Charles, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
