Baseball Game Preview: St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots vs. Chaminade Red Devils

The St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots will take on the Chaminade Red Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Louis HomeSchool P has four straight victories, Chaminade has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While St. Louis HomeSchool P's win against Winfield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. St. Louis HomeSchool P won by a run and slipped past Winfield 16-15. The Patriots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Rhyan Gard looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Ben Janssen was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Vinny Tornatore, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

St. Louis HomeSchool P kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They got six more hits than Winfield's also-impressive total of 11.

Meanwhile, Chaminade came up short against Lafayette on Wednesday, falling 17-7. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly ten runs.

Bobby Wittman and Henry Ladenberger stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wittman scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Ladenberger went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

St. Louis HomeSchool P's record now sits at 6-4. As for Chaminade, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

St. Louis HomeSchool P skirted past Chaminade 4-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Louis HomeSchool P since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
