Volleyball Recap: Hermann Bearcats vs. St. Vincent Indians
Hermann and St. Vincent squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Hermann had to settle for second. They fell just short of the St. Vincent Indians by a score of 3-2. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hermann started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-10.
Despite the loss, Hermann still got an impressive performance from Jaelee Kahler, who had four aces, three kills, and 38 assists. Kahler has been hot recently, having also posted at least one hitting percentage the last four times she's played.
Even though they lost, Hermann was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Vincent only served nine.
Leading St. Vincent to victory were Brie Rubel and Mallory Patrick. Rubel had 19 digs, while Patrick had ten digs.
Hermann's defeat dropped their record down to 20-17. As for St. Vincent, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 23-9-5 record this season.
