Baseball Preview: Hillsboro Burros vs. LaVergne Wolverines
The Hillsboro Burros will head out to take on the LaVergne Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hillsboro will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Hillsboro managed to slip by Ezell-Harding Christian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Caleb Lund made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Lathan Hall was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Muhammad Israr also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Hillsboro's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for LaVergne, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.
