Softball Recap: Falls Lake Triumphs

It's playoff time, and Falls Lake had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Wake Prep Academy Guardians by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Firebirds in their matchups with the Guardians: they've now won four in a row.

Wynterlee Glenn made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Falls Lake let Cora Cates and Kayla Cash run wild. Cates went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Cash got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Cash has posted since back in March. Jolie Sensenig was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Falls Lake's record is now 12-10. As for Wake Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Falls Lake wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-7 win against Pamlico County on the 8th. Wake Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
