Baseball Game Preview: J.P. Stevens Hawks vs. South River Rams

For the second straight game, J.P. Stevens will face off against South River. The Hawks will square off against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

J.P. Stevens took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against South River, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rams on Monday, sneaking past 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

For South River's part, James Zsorey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits. Zsorey has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, South River saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julien Borusovic, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

South River has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for J.P. Stevens, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
