Basketball Recap: Northwood Skates Past Cummings with Ease

Northwood won the last time they faced Cummings and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Northwood Chargers blew past the Cummings Cavaliers, posting a 49-12 win. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Cavaliers are ranked 465th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shaylah Glover out in front who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyia Roberts, who had 11 points and six rebounds.

Northwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Northwood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Cummings, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Northwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-47 defeat against Seaforth on the 9th. As for Cummings, they will challenge North Moore at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
