Baseball Recap: Highland Find Success

On Saturday Highland's undefeated season almost came to an end. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the California City Ravens 4-2. While the Scots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jeremiah England looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Highland's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Garza, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Garza a new career-high in hits.

Highland's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for California City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3-1.

Highland will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Edison at 6:30 p.m. on March 11th. Highland's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Edison's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for California City, they have already played their next match, a 7-5 loss against North on the 4th.
