The Crespi Celts will square off against the La Salle Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Crespi's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
Crespi lost a heartbreaker the last time they played St. Anthony, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Celts took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-6 victory over the Saints. With the Celts ahead 21-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Crespi found their leader in sophomore Chase Curren, who threw for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 79 yards and one score on only five carries. Curren really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run. Another player making a difference was Cooper Howard, who picked up 95 receiving yards and one TD.
One reason for the win was Crespi's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. James Moffat was especially locked on to St. Anthony's QB and sacked him twice. Crespi received some extra help from Oliver White, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Salle). They walked away with a 47-37 win over Harvard-Westlake on Friday. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Lancers were down 30-14 in the second quarter.
La Salle's win came from a few key players Crespi will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alexandros Darlas, who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 57 receiving yards. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because La Salle is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise. Jakari Bacot was another key player, throwing for 294 yards and four TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes.
La Salle didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rocky Strong and Darlas.
Crespi pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.0 points over those games. As for La Salle, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
