Baseball Game Preview: Pyramid Lake Lakers vs. Virginia City Muckers

The Pyramid Lake Lakers are taking a road trip to square off against the Virginia City Muckers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pyramid Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Pyramid Lake is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mineral County just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Serpents by a score of 5-4.

William Darrough was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, Virginia City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Wells, falling 20-3.

Virginia City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angel Hipolito, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Pyramid Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Virginia City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pyramid Lake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Virginia City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Pyramid Lake came out on top in a nail-biter against Virginia City in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Lakers repeat their success, or do the Muckers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
