Baseball Game Preview: Mattamuskeet Lakers vs. Cape Hatteras Hurricanes

Mattamuskeet is 2-8 against Cape Hatteras since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Mattamuskeet will host Cape Hatteras at 5:00 p.m. Mattamuskeet has given up an average of 14.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mattamuskeet is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They lost 19-0 to Bear Grass Charter.

Meanwhile, Cape Hatteras waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Raiders 14-12.

The team relied heavily on Mikie Gavetti, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Landen Sonnier was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Cape Hatteras was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mattamuskeet's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cape Hatteras, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Mattamuskeet might still be hurting after the 21-13 defeat they got from Cape Hatteras in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Mattamuskeet avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
