Chase Johnston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.
At the plate, Cy Chrisman was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, Springville beat Payson 9-6 on Tuesday.
Hugh Redd made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Redd was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Eli Liddiard was a standout: he scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Kaden Tingey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Springville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Payson only posted a batting average of .167.
Maple Mountain skirted past Springville 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Does Maple Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Springville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
