Preview: Peetz Bulldogs vs. Otis Bulldogs

Peetz is 0-5 against Otis since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Peetz Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Otis Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Peetz has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Otis will arrive with three straight wins.

Peetz struggled with assists on Tuesday (Potter-Dix had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Peetz's rough 67-44 loss to Potter-Dix might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Peetz in their matchups with Potter-Dix: they've now lost seven in a row.

Peetz's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaidynn Reiman, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Skye Lefever who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lefever has scored all season.

Even though Otis has not done well against Lone Star recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Otis came out on top against Lone Star by a score of 46-33.

Alli Hornung and Madelyn Willeke were among the main playmakers for Otis as the former scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Willeke scored 15 or more points.

Peetz dropped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Otis, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Peetz have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 20.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Otis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Peetz took a serious blow against Otis in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 57-23. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Peetz was down 38-15.
