The John Carroll Patriots will square off against the McDonogh Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McDonogh will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: John Carroll extended their winning streak to four on Saturday. The Patriots didn't even let Havre de Grace on the board, marking the Patriots' second-straight 10-0 shutout.

Jack Hudson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
At the plate, John Carroll let Will Rhine and Casey Carpenter run wild. Rhine got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Carpenter went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Dallas Brooks, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, McDonogh got themselves on the board against Glenelg Country on Thursday, but Glenelg Country never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Dragons. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won five in a row.
McDonogh also got a great performance from Chase Ginsberg as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. Ginsberg has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Andy Lambert was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of McDonogh's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Michael Gorsky was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
John Carroll's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for McDonogh, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. John Carroll has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like McDonogh struggles in that department as they've averaged .490. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
John Carroll skirted past McDonogh 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2021. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
