Softball Recap: Durant Takes a Loss

Durant fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Gaither on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one run.

Leanne Allen spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Gabrielle Langston was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

Durant's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Gaither, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Durant will take on Newsome at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gaither, they will face off against Plant at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
