Recap: L.C. Bird Skyhawks vs. Midlothian Trojans
The L.C. Bird Skyhawks suffered their closest loss yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Midlothian by a score of 43-40. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as L.C. Bird came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Midlothian is ranked 86th).
Despite the loss, L.C. Bird saw an underclassman step up: Kylie Kent dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Aliyah Elliott was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
L.C. Bird's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3. As for Midlothian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
L.C. Bird will head out on the road to challenge Powhatan at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Powhatan is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Midlothian will take on Clover Hill at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
