Softball Recap: Freedom Triumphs

Freedom won the last time they faced Marinette and things went their way on Monday too. The Irish walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Marines.

Kailey Stordeur spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jovie Smith was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Marlee Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Freedom's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Marinette, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Freedom will square off against rival Little Chute at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Marinette is set to challenge their familiar foe Luxemburg-Casco at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
