The Wickliffe Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Champion Golden Flashes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Wickliffe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Wickliffe came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-1 to Perry. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Leigha Blazetic spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Wickliffe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amanda Peklay, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Southeast typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Champion proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Pirates. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Flashes in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Adalyn McIntosh, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Sylvester, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
Wickliffe now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Champion, their win bumped their record up to 18-5.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wickliffe hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Champion struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wickliffe suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Champion in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
