Preview: Williston Red Devils vs. North Marion Colts
Williston and North Marion are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Williston Red Devils will be playing at home against the North Marion Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Williston will be strutting in after a victory while North Marion will be coming in after a defeat.
Williston can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Union County 67-11 at home. With Williston ahead 49-4 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Natreana Akanni was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kierce Solomon, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to North Marion, who are still winless after their 14th contest. They were outmatched by Dunnellon at home and fell 60-13. North Marion was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-8.
Williston's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for North Marion, they bumped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Williston against North Marion in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-5 win. With Williston ahead 53-2 at the half, the game was all but over already.
