Recap: Newsome Wolves vs. Hillsborough Terriers
The Newsome Wolves''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Hillsborough, falling 37-6. While losing is never fun, Newsome can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 286th, while Hillsborough is ranked 123rd).
Noah Guenther threw for 106 yards and a touchdown. Clayton Brown was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Tariq Sapp rushed for 59 yards.
Hillsborough got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacquez Gibson out in front who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Syncere Styles was another key contributor, rushing for 72 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Newsome has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Hillsborough, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newsome will square off against Sumner at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sumner will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Hillsborough, they will head out on the road to face off against Jesuit at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jesuit will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
