Preview: Cibola Cougars vs. Volcano Vista Hawks
Cibola is 0-10 against Volcano Vista since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cibola Cougars will be playing at home against the Volcano Vista Hawks at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cibola has struggled recently with 20 losses in a row, while Volcano Vista will arrive with ten straight wins.
Last Friday, Cibola came up short against Atrisco Heritage Academy and fell 53-42.
In what's become a running theme this season, Volcano Vista gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Cleveland with a sharp 60-37 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-14.
Cibola's loss was their 12th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-20. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.6 points per game. As for Volcano Vista, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Cibola took a serious blow against Volcano Vista in their previous matchup back in January, falling 75-14. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cibola was down 45-8.
