Basketball Game Preview: Travelers Rest Devildogs vs. Wren Hurricanes

The Travelers Rest Devildogs will head out on the road to square off against the Wren Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Travelers Rest has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Travelers Rest took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 47-38 win over Berea.

Travelers Rest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chloe Stegall led the charge by putting up 11 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals Stegall has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mabry Mullis, who earned 17 points and five steals.

Travelers Rest was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Wren ended up a good deal behind Powdersville on Thursday and lost 63-48.

Wren's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Travelers Rest, their record now sits at 16-10.

Things could have been worse for Travelers Rest, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-53 loss to Wren when the teams last played back in December of 2019. Thankfully for Travelers Rest, Riley Stack (who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 14 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
