Baseball Game Preview: Milford Mill Academy Millers vs. New Town

Milford Mill Academy is 0-10 against New Town since April of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Milford Mill Academy is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game last Thursday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Woodlawn. That's two games in a row now that the Millers have lost by just one run.

Dominick Champion and Noah James did some serious damage despite the final result: Champion got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while James went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases and four runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Jones, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, New Town entered their tilt with Overlea last Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 14-1 victory. Considering New Town has won seven games by more than 11 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

New Town's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Milford Mill Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Milford Mill Academy suffered a grim 22-2 defeat to New Town when the teams last played back in March. Can the Millers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
