Softball Recap: Brewer Wins Going Away Against Chisholm Trail

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Aledo, Brewer was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Chisholm Trail Rangers 16-1. Considering the Bears have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Khloe Winn looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brewer got a massive performance out of Samantha Aguirre, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-2. What's more, Aguirre posted two runs, the most she's had since back in February. Cozette Tyson was another key player, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3.

Brewer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Brewer has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Chisholm Trail, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11-1 record this season.

Brewer and Chisholm Trail could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Bears will square off against Fossil Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (288 vs. 113). Meanwhile, Chisholm Trail (ranked 561st) will meet Aledo (ranked 16th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
