Preview: Willows Honkers vs. Biggs Wolverines
Willows has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Biggs Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Biggs took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Willows, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Willows beat Williams 29-20. The win was just what Willows needed coming off of a 34-7 defeat in their prior game.
Jonny Esparza had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 235 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Biggs was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 34-28 to Hamilton.
Despite their defeat, Biggs saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zach Smith, who rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Brady Smith, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Willows' victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Biggs, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Willows skirted past Biggs 21-18 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Willows since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
