Football Recap: Bethune Bobcats vs. Flagler Panthers
Bethune was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Flagler Panthers, falling 42-19. The Bobcats gained 149 more yards on the day, but it was the Panthers that made the best use of them.
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ismael Perla, who rushed for 111 yards on only six carries, and also caught a touchdown. Bethune also got a significant boost from Wyatt King, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 134 yards.
He was just one part of a punishing run game: Bethune was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 277 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flagler only rushed for 118.
Bethune wouldn't let Flagler keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. Johnny Gitschlag was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance.
Bethune's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Flagler, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethune will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hanover at 1:00 p.m. on October 12th. As for Flagler, they will take on Genoa-Hugo at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Genoa-Hugo is coming into the game with three straight victories on the road, so Flagler will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
