Football Recap: Atlantic Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Atlantic put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 43-20 margin over the Norland Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four contests by 23 points or more so far this season.

Atlantic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Pedro Martinez out in front who rushed for 127 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 81 yards and one TD. Those 127 rushing yards gave Martinez a new career-high. Omari St.Fort was another key rusher, rushing for 89 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Atlantic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 167 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Atlantic's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jamir Johnson, Zayvion Hayes, and Jvon Hatcher, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Atlantic's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Norland, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Atlantic will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Treasure Coast at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Eagles will be up against the Titans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.75 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Norland, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Archbishop McCarthy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Vikings' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
