Veterans Memorial might have lost, but man, Calvin Trevillion was a machine: he rushed for 180 yards and two scores on only seven carries. Trevillion really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Edinburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 42-34 win over Edinburg North on Friday. The Bobcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Veterans Memorial better keep an eye on Aidden Sanchez. He was instrumental in Edinburg's win, rushing for 43 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 155 yards and two TDs. What's more, Sanchez racked up 130.6 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.
One reason for the win was Edinburg's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Moises Hernandez refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. David Garza got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 7-3. As for Edinburg, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Thursday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Veterans Memorial has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 408.4 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Edinburg, though, as they've been averaging only 88 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
