Softball Recap: Blackman Takes a Loss

After flying high against Tullahoma on Wednesday, Blackman came back down to earth. The Blackman Blaze came up short against the Eagleville Eagles on Thursday, falling 20-9. While the Blaze didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 5-1 in the first period.

Alyssa Barber was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Sophia Compton was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Blackman now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Eagleville, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Blackman will head out to take on Central Magnet on Monday. Blackman has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Eagleville, they will take on Stewarts Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
