Basketball Recap: Plainville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hill City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plainville). They strolled past the Hill City Ringnecks with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 68-54. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Ringnecks are ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Hill City lost, don't look at Carson Keith. Despite the final result, he went 11 for 24 on his way to 31 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Keith a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Zohner, who posted eight points along with 15 boards and three blocks.

The win made it two in a row for Plainville and bumps their season record up to 5-2. As for Hill City, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

When Plainville and Hill City next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Plainville will square off against Trego and their three-game winning streak at 7:05 p.m. on January 31st. Similarly, Hill City will try to stop Smith Center's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th.
