Basketball Game Preview: George West Longhorns vs. Odem Owls

George West hasn't had much luck against Odem recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The George West Longhorns will host the Odem Owls at 6:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, George West lost to Taft on the road by a 67-53 margin. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Odem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against Aransas Pass, falling 84-35. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1352nd, while the Panthers are ranked 566th).

Odem's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for George West, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.

George West was able to grind out a solid victory over Odem in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 46-37. Will George West repeat their success, or does Odem have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
