Softball Game Preview: Cony Rams vs. Gardiner Tigers

Cony hasn't had much luck against Gardiner recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rams will head out to take on the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Cony will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Messalonskee, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rams walked away with a 19-14 victory over the Eagles on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Gardiner had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The victory got Cony back to even at 8-8. As for Gardiner, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

Cony suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Gardiner in their previous matchup on May 5th. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
