Basketball Game Preview: Oakwood Owls vs. Mid-Pacific Institute Owls

The Oakwood Owls will take on the Mid-Pacific Institute Owls in a tournament on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Oakwood is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Heritage Christian just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a blow against the Warriors, falling 67-23. Having soared to a lofty 61 points in the game before, the Owls couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Mid-Pacific Institute suffered their closest defeat since November 26, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of El Capitan by a score of 57-54. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Owls came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in Hawaii, while the Gauchos are ranked 420th in California).

Oakwood's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-5. As for Mid-Pacific Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
