Volleyball Recap: Winfield Takes a Loss

Winfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lyons Lions. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lions from their previous meeting back in October of 2023.

Winfield came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-22.

Sylvia McIntosh paced Winfield's offense, picking up eight kills. McIntosh got some help from Addie Flaton and her 17 assists. Finally, McIntosh was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Winfield's loss dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Lyons, their win bumped their record up to 3-20-2.

Winfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Conway Springs on the 11th. As for Lyons, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against North on the 11th.
