Two Rock Hill-area schools have named new football coaches and neither school had to look too far.

South Pointe (Rock Hill) and Nation Ford (Fort Mill) high schools each promoted their defensive coordinators to head coach, according to the Rock Hill Herald.

Strait Herron takes over at South Pointe for Bobby Carroll, who left after last season to coach at his alma mater, York. Herron played for Northwestern High School and then coached in the area at Northwestern, Clover and Rock Hill.

Michael Allen becomes Nations Ford's second head coach, as he takes over for Rusty Jester, who was relieved of his duties in January, the newspaper reported. This is Allen's first head coaching position. He's been at Nation Ford since the school opened four years ago after he spent 14 seasons at Rock Hill High School.
