Basketball Recap: Elli Baker Key Part of a Team Effort in Norsemen Win

On Saturday, the Northfield Norsemen earned a 51-42 win over the Northwestern Tigers.

Northfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elli Baker, who posted 16 points and six boards. Baker is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Callie Hoffman was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Northfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Northwestern's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Maci Rody, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards, and Anna Bishir, who had 13 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Bishir a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkley Wray, who earned two points in addition to five rebounds and five blocks.

Northfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Northwestern, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Northfield will challenge Peru at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Peru will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Northfield surely won't give up without a fight.
