Basketball Recap: Eastern Takes a Loss

On Monday, Eastern faced Jackson-Reed in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Eastern Ramblers were dealt a 72-35 defeat at the hands of the Jackson-Reed Tigers. The Ramblers have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Josiah Massaquoi was nothing short of spectacular for Jackson-Reed: he went 8 for 12 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Park, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Eastern's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Jackson-Reed, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Eastern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-37 win against Ballou on the 18th. As for Jackson-Reed, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-33 victory against Dunbar on the 18th.
