Softball Recap: Yreka Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Yreka, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Hidden Valley/Illinois Valley on Thursday. The Miners not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7, 2024.

Trinity Spencer was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Spencer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Macey Howell was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emmie Freitas, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Yreka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Yreka's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-10.

Coming up, Yreka is taking a road trip to square off against Etna at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hidden Valley/Illinois Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
