Volleyball Recap: Harlem Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Harlem entered their tilt with Jefferson on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the J-Hawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in April.

Harlem had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-17, 25-16.

Payton Mackey paced Harlem's offense, picking up nine kills. Mackey got some help from Hunter Derry and his 22 assists. Finally, Mackey was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Harlem's victory bumped their record up to 20-12. As for Jefferson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Harlem is set to face off against their familiar foe Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Jefferson will square off against rival Belvidere North at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
