Baseball Recap: Douglass Beats Friendly for Their Fourth Straight Win

Douglass waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Friendly Patriots with a sharp 33-3 win. Considering the Eagles have won 11 games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Marshall Barnes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, six runs, and seven RBI. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Douglass let Arrington Price, III and Eric Guzman run wild. Price, III got on base in five of his six plate appearances with six stolen bases, six runs, and five RBI, while Guzman fired off eight RBI, four runs, and two triples while going 4-for-6. Those six stolen bases gave Price, III a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Rosa-Pinero, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Douglass was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Douglass' victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Friendly, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Douglass will head out to challenge Potomac at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Friendly has already played their next contest (against Gwynn Park), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
