Softball Recap: Century Takes a Loss

After flying high against Newberg on Tuesday, Century came back down to earth. The Jaguars fell just short of the Forest Grove Vikings by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. The Jaguars have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Alyssa Loza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Century saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessie Henry, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Century's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Forest Grove, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Century will square off against Glencoe at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crimson Tide's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Forest Grove, they will face off against Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
