Soccer Game Preview: Tonganoxie vs. Turner

The Tonganoxie Chieftains will challenge the Turner Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tonganoxie has three straight wins, Turner has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Tonganoxie's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Bonner Springs by a score of 2-0. Give Tonganoxie's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Turner's offense. They lost 8-0 to Seaman on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Turner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas soccer rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Seaman are ranked 28th).

Turner's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Tonganoxie, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4-2.

Everything went Tonganoxie's way against Turner in their previous meeting back in April of 2018, as Tonganoxie made off with a 6-1 win. Do the Chieftains have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
